Apples

Sally knows a new word - apple!

She has been saying 'a' 'a' at them for a while, then that graduated to 'app-ul' with a sort of gulp after the 'app' - not a bad attempt really.

However the big development happened yesterday when she actually asked for one after her lunch. Normally she has a cheese triangle or a banana, but yesterday she kept saying 'app', 'app' until I realised what she was asking and offered her an apple. 'Yeh, yeh', she said, and ate lots of it. I was very proud; it's lovely to have her using language to get something she wants.

Otherwise life is fairly crazy here at the moment as we prepare to move house. So far all is still on to move next Friday - a terrifying thought - and many boxes are being packed. Sally, of course, gets thoroughly in the way: attempting to steal the scissors, pulling off the newly attached sellotape holding the boxes together, running off with the tape and then having a tantrum when you take it off her. Given that when you have finally chased her down and removed it you return to find a cat sitting in your neatly packed box, squashing everything, it is a wonder that any of us made it through the day. However, I have called in some babysitting help for two days this week, so with any luck I can break the back of it this week.

On a less positive note, Sally has picked up another cold, this time a chesty one rather than a heady/nasal one. So less stuffiness and I suspect less chance of an ear infection, but much more coughing and hacking and a much greater chance of a chest infection. She took thirty-five minutes to go to sleep tonight, but hopefully she will manage to sort herself out for the rest of it.
